If you are like most other individuals and families, your finances may be tight. There are many families who are just scraping by and others are the on the border of debt. If this situation sounds all too familiar, a summer vacation may be the last thing on your mind. If you and your family are interested in taking a summer vacation, you can, no matter what your financial situation.
When selecting a summer vacation destination on a budget, it is important that you do not limit yourself. There are too many individuals who search for a vacation destination solely based on price. Instead of first searching for low-cost vacations, you are encouraged to find the vacation destination of your dreams. Once you closely examine the hotels, restaurants, amusement parks, or beaches that your selected destination has to offer, you can easily learn how and where to save money.
If the beach sounds like the perfect summer vacation destination, you have a number of options. Popular beaches, that are designed for those on a budget in the United States may include, but are not limited to, Virginia Beach, Pensacola Beach, and Long Beach. You can plan a beach vacation in the Caribbean or overseas; however, the cost of travel will likely increase the cost of your vacation.
Virginia Beach, Long Beach, Daytona Beach, Myrtle Beach, and Long Beach are all known as vacation “hotspots.” Many individuals automatically assume that the most popular beach destinations are too expensive. While some facilities and activities may be high priced, there are ways for you to vacation there on a budget. Instead of staying at an ocean-side resort, you could save a large amount of money by booking an inland hotel. The same can be said for restaurants, bars, and event centers. Almost everything is more expensive on the shoreline.
If you are more interested in spending your vacation golfing, you may want to examine the golf resorts in and around the Untied States. Many popular golf courses are located in Myrtle Beach, Newport Beach, and Scottsdale. If you are on a budget, you can easily benefit from purchasing a resort package. Many popular golf resorts, in the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean offer packages that offer accommodations that may include travel, hotel stays, golf course visits, and dining.
Golf resorts are popular vacation destinations for many individuals, but many can be expensive. If you are unable to obtain a discount vacation package, but you still want to your vacation to have a focus on golf, you have a number of options. Many golf resorts allow vacationers to play on their courses, even if they are not staying at the resort. It is also possible to golf at well-known golf courses that are not considered resorts. As with a beach vacation, you may be able to save a large amount of money by staying at a hotel or dinning away from a golf resort.
Theme parks and amusement parks are popular vacation destinations, especially for those with children. If you and your family are interested in vacationing at a United States theme park, you have a number of options. Theme park resorts are similar to, the above mentioned, golf resorts. A large number of well-known theme park resorts, including Orlando Studios, Disneyland, and Disney World can be selected, even if you are on a budget. Many of these resorts offer vacation packages that include hotel stays, theme park use, onsite dinning, and much more.
Theme park resort packages are a great way to save money, but you could save even more by not paying for services that you will not use. If you do not have to fly to reach your destination you should not have to have travel accommodations included in your package. You may also be able to find cheaper hotel accommodations that are located a short distance away from the theme park of your choice. In addition to theme park resorts, you can find days of fun at smaller parks, such as Six Flags, Sea World, and Bush Gardens.
You may recognize many of the above mentioned summer vacation destinations. Popular vacation destinations do not have to be financially out of your reach. Simply by cutting a few corners, you could be vacationing along side the rest of America, even while on a budget.

Reach Your Summer Vacation Destination with These Popular Methods of Travel
If you are interested in taking a summer vacation, there are a number of decisions that you will have to make. The decision most often thought about is your summer vacation destination. Some individuals and families spend days, even weeks, selecting the perfect summer vacation destination. While choosing a destination is important, so is deciding how you will get there.
In the United States and overseas, there are a large number of different travel methods. Each of these methods could be used to assist you in getting to your next summer vacation destination. To determine which method of travel is best for your needs, you are encouraged to closely examine each method.
One of the most popular methods for summer vacation travel is the road. A large number of individuals and families make the decision to drive to wherever they are going. It is often thought that air travel is the most popular; however, it is usually not. If you are interested in driving yourself and your family to your vacation destination, there are a number of important factors that you should first consider. Those factors are likely to include the cost of travel.
Currently, in the United States, there is a growing concern with the rising cost of gasoline. For years now, summer travel has often meant an increase in the price of gasoline. Before deciding to drive to your next summer vacation destination, you are encouraged to determine the estimated cost of gasoline. There are many families who find that the cost of gasoline is often not worth the trip.
In addition to the cost of gasoline, the wear and tear of your vehicle should be considered. The longer the distance of travel, the more your car is likely to depreciate in value. There are many individuals who mistakenly assume that there is no connection between a family vacation and the value of the family car. When a car generates excessive miles, the value of the car will decrease. This value is important when trying to resell your vehicle or offer it as a trade-in.
If you find that the traveling on the road is not a viable travel option, you may want to consider air travel. Air travel is almost as popular as road travel. A large number of individuals and families travel the skies to make it to their next summer vacation destination. With thousands of flights taking off each day, it is likely that you could find multiple flights that will allow you to arrive right at your vacation destination.
If you decide on air travel, you may want to search for online discounts. In addition to traditional airline discounts, there are many popular vacation resorts that partner with particular airlines. By booking airplane reservations, you may be able to receive significant discounts to popular hotels or restaurants while on vacation. When using an airplane to get to your destination, you will arrive quicker than any other travel method.
Air travel is often considered the most preferred method of travel; however, a large number of individuals are unable to afford tickets. The price of gasoline has not only affected the cost of driving your vehicle, but the cost of purchasing an airline ticket, as well. There are many individuals who mistakenly believe that if they are unable to drive themselves or book airline reservations, they will be unable to take a vacation. This is simply not true. There are a number of other travel methods that can be used to reach your next vacation destination.
Train travel and bus travel may help you reach your vacation destination. While they may not be considered the most glamorous methods of travel, they are often considered the cheapest. There are a large number of passenger trains and buses that depart from the Untied States, and other areas of the world, on a daily basis. It may take you longer to reach your anticipated destination, but tickets are almost always affordable.
Understanding your travel options is the best way to plan your summer vacation. You can select the perfect vacation destination, but if your method of travel is unpleasant, your vacation could be ruined. With a little bit of research and decision making, you should be able to find the perfect way to arrive in style at your next summer vacation destination.

Belts And Performance
The belts for vacuum cleaners can come in many styles and hundreds of different sizes. Normally, vacuums
use a belt to drive an agitation device, which is also known as a brush roller. With very few
exceptions, most vacuums will use either a flat belt, round belt, or a geared style belt.
The type of belt that your vacuum uses is very important, not only for durability, but performance
as well. The condition and type of belt your vacuum uses will have a lot of impact on the systems
ability to clean carpet. The proper use of agitation is almost 70% of the cleaning ability of
a vacuum cleaner.
Suction is also very important. The suction is what pulls the dirt that is removed from the carpet
into the collection area of the vacuum. The suction, or airflow, is the key when cleaning
hard surfaces or when using attachments. Without suction, a vacuum cleaner could only bring more
dirt to the surface of carpet. Even though both agitation and suction are important with vacuuming,
the agitation is what actually cleans them.
Almost all manufacturers use brush rollers that are made of wood, metal, or even plastic that
is driven by a suction or brush motor through the use of three different kinds of belts - round,
geared, or flat.
The round belts are the earliest type as they were easy to produce and easy to engineer. The
round style, unfortunately, is normally run in the same space as vacuumed dirt. What this means,
is that almost all of the dirt, staples, and hair you vacuum up will pass around the belt;
cutting, nicking, or even scratching it along the way.
Vacuum cleaner belts have to stretch quite a long way, placing even more stress on the roller and
the motor bearings. The round belt is still common, and used even today.
The flat style of belts are most often run in a circular fashion as well, unlike the twisted
route the round belt takes to deliver the performance in the proper direction.
The style allow manufacturers to run the belt off of one side of the brush roller, instead of the
center where all of the dirt is. This is truly a great innovation, as you can eliminate premature
failure due to the soil and dirt in the belt path.
The latest belt design is considered to be the best in the industry. Even though there are many
variations out there, the geared belt is the most efficient means to drive a brush. The
geared belt is also known as a positive brush system because the energy of the brush motor is
transmitted directly to the brush.
Both the brush and the motor are locked by fixed teeth to each other through a cogged belt
without tension. The resulting direct connection results in higher cleaning efficiency because
the brush can be driven at a faster speed regardless of the age of the belt.
The flat style can stretch as they become warm, which will cause them to lose tension. When
you use your vacuum, the belt is always going to stretch. Believe it or not, it will lose it's
tension the moment you put it up to rest in the closet.
There is however, one real drawback to geared belts - the cost of the vacuum. Geared belts
are normally used on two motor vacuums. Not only does this require a separate suction and
brush motor, but it also requires electronic sensory systems to tell you when something is
wrong with the brush.

Bagged Versus Bagless
As with most things in life, there is really nothing free. The two most claimed advantages to bagless vacuum cleaners were lower operating costs and better performance. As far as the cost issues go, all vacuums must filter the exhausting air they use to carry the dirt into the collection area, as they would otherwise simply pick the dirt up from the floor and spit it right back out.
Whether you have a bagless HEPA filter, a pre-filter, or disposable bags, they all need to be changed at some point. With the average life of a vacuum cleaner, you can expect to spend the same on either collection system for filters, but if you value your time, you can expect to spend quite a bit more on a bagless system.
To keep your bagless vacuum cleaner operating at peak levels, you'll need to empty the dirt container when it is full and perform regular maintenance on the filter. The type of filter the vacuum uses will determine just how much service will be required, although most use a pleated HEPA filter.
Cleaning
Even though the claim of better airflow performance with bagless vacuums is true in a sense, over the life of the vacuum you'll get the same, or maybe even better performance from a bagged vacuum cleaner system.
With bagged vacuum cleaners, the performance wil start at 100% with each new bag then slowly drop as the bag starts to fill. Just how quickly the performance drops depends on how well the bag is constructed. With the average vacuum and the average bag, you may replace the bag every 3 - 4 weeks with 90% of performance the first week, 70% in weeks 2 and 3, then 50% of less in the fourth week.
The short cycle will insure that you get a 100% peak cleaning every 3 or 4 weeks from the vacuum cleaner. The filtered cyclonic machines have filters that are designed to last 6 months, 12 months, and even up to 18 months before they need to be replaced.
Pets
If you have dogs or cats, whether you see it or not, almost all domestic animals shed their fur
on a regular basis throughout their lives. Pet owners often wonder as well, which vacuum is the
best to remove pet hair.
For pretty much the same reasons that fur sticks to the carpet, it will also stick to your bagless
vacuum's pleated filter cartridge. The fur will reduce the performance of airflow, and is also a
pain in the neck to clean off the filter.
Over time, the fiber that makes up the filter can retain odor from pets, even if you clean the
filter well. If your filter requires replacing only once a year, you could end up with a vacuum
that spits odors that will stink up your house
pretty bad.
Bagged up
Those vacuums that use bags will often provide for neat disposal of a full bag. There are some
brands such as BOSCH that actually engineer bag disposal into the system. With BOSCH canister vacuums, the replacement of bags is a single dust free step. The new mega filt bags have a built in closure system that upon removal, will slide shut and trap the dirt and debris
inside of the bag, making removal quick and easy.
Still, there are many people out there who love bagless machines. Bagless vacuums will continue
at a slow place to gain market share, and people will continue to buy them. For many, a bagless vacuum can be the right vacuum to have.
Bags are the technology of the past, while bagless is the technology of the future. There are many reasons as to why you should go bagless. For the vacuums of tomorrow, cylinder and bagless is the key.

Energy Company Plans
Basehor, KS: Ethanex Energy is seeking bankruptcy protection after failing to raise interim financing in the amount of $1.5 million, according to a March 24, 2008 posting with security regulators.
The ethanol company out of Basehor, Kansas had at one time announced their plans to build three plants, but had ceased such actions and also put an end to an agreement in which they were to buy a small plant located in Nebraska. The officials that are still with the company are CEO Albert Knapp, Lisa Hallier, and CFO David McKittrick. The officials that were dismissed are co-chief operating officers Bryan Sherbacow and Randall Rahm and executive chairman Robert Walther.
Ethanex outlined its financial problems and discussed bankruptcy as a possibility on March 12, 2008. The company had made plans that involved building three plants. Each new plant would have been able to produce 110 million gallons of ethanol annually. Organizers had raised $20 million in a 2006 private stock offering and then made the shares available for public trading.
In January 2008, the company held a reverse stock split in which shareholders were reduced to 1 share for every 10 shares that they owned. In October, shares were trading as high as $48 per share, but as of March 24, 2008 shares had dropped 9.1 cents in OTC markets to 17 cents per share.
In November, Ethanex had changed their strategy regarding the building of three plants and decided it would be more feasible to buy a Nebraska plant that already produced 26 million gallons of ethanol a year. Their hopes were that the Nebraska plant would showcase the corn fractionation process that Ethanex said was a way to make ethanol more efficiently. In the middle of 2006, it was cheaper to build a facility than buy one, but when ethanol prices dropped, it became cheaper to buy than build.
The acquisition of the Nebraska plant involved a $50 million purchase, which would then be followed by two more transactions as Ethanex would expand the plant. The total amount for the acquisition and the expansion would total $170 million in cash and enough in shares to make the transaction amount total $220 million. Unfortunately, that deal would also involve Ethanex having to raise $1.5 million in interim financing while it worked to find the monies for the deal, which it failed to do.

Dangerous Gas Pedal Revs
Houston, TX: Thousands of owners of Ford Super Duty Pickup Trucks and Expedition sport utility vehicles will have a chance to make Ford replace the gas pedal in some 300,000 to 500,000 vehicles manufactured between 2001 and 2003, thanks to the relentlessness of attorney Grant Harvey and the firm of Gibbs & Bruns from Houston, Texas.
A recent decision by the Oklahoma Supreme Court overturned an earlier decision by a lower court and ruled the plaintiffs’ suit did meet the requirements of a national class action lawsuit. Harvey is expecting the breach of warranty suit will go forward as soon as possible.
“We hope to go to trial pretty quickly,” Harvey says. “We intend to seek a quick trial date and we are going to try to crack the whip on that.”
The multi-million dollar suit names both Ford and one of its suppliers, Williams Controls, Inc., the company that supplied Ford with the gas pedal, as defendants in the case.
According to the documents filed, as early as 2001, thousands of vehicle owners reported an alarming problem with the gas pedal. When they pushed their foot down to accelerate, the vehicle shifted into idle—some drivers reported they experienced the problem as many a hundred times.
“We certainly allege that it is a safety issue,” Harvey says. We have alleged the pedal was not designed robustly enough. Furthermore it did not meet Ford's own internal testing requirements.”
In addition to being a lawyer, Harvey holds a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering—a good combination to have on your side when going up against Ford and its legion of engineers who will no doubt be called as witnesses in the class action. Can Ford Pay?
Plaintiffs are asking that Ford replace the allegedly defective gas pedal—a cost of about $185 per pedal. Given the large number of potential plaintiffs, the troubled automaker is looking at million of dollars if Harvey wins the suit.
“I hope at some point they take steps to rectify what we contend is a defect,” Harvey says. Grant Harvey holds a B.S. and a M.S. Industrial Engineering from the University of Utah, University of Utah, M.S. Industrial Engineering and a J.D. from the University of Texas. He is also an Instructor at the University of Houston, Department of Engineering. Attorneys at Gibbs & Bruns have backgrounds in a range of practice areas.

Nissan Infiniti Customers Slam the Brakes
'Nissan brake' is not a pleasant subject amongst this group.
Witness the frustration of Sanford, who hails from Franklin, Tennessee and is beside himself with the situation involving his 2004 Infiniti G35X. After purchasing the car in June of last year, he "immediately put [the car] in the shop for several issues, one being the brakes.
"Front rotors and pads, $500-plus. At that time the car had 51,000 miles. Sanford, blogging on consumeraffairs.com, suggested to the dealer that he wanted to keep up with the wear issues in such a way that would allow him to replace only the brake pads and not have to replace the rotors. Sanford was told he could get 20,000 to 25,000 miles depending on how aggressively he drove the car. "They used a harder metal in 2005 and the rotors are bigger. I am currently at 63,000-plus miles so I guess I have to replace brakes around 75,000."
Sanford reports being told that he may be able to purchase some aftermarket rotors to get better use out of the brakes—and while he might go that route, "I think if Infiniti knows about this they should give a substantial break on the brake service—at least half off or more," Sanford writes. Witness the story of Claudia, of Chula Vista in California.
"I purchased a 2005 FX35 in April of 2008 from a dealership in San Diego. One week after I purchased it, the car made a horrible screeching/squealing noise as I braked going in reverse. After putting up with the Nissan brake noise for a few more months, Claudia decided to take the car to an Infiniti dealership. "On January 17th, 2009 they once again resurfaced the rotors. I contacted Infiniti again and…was told that the noise was normal for these types of cars and that nothing could be done to fix it. [The dealer] offered to check the car for safety purposes and that is it. He also told me that the previous owner had the same problem with the car. "
Chuck from Buffalo weighs in on the Infiniti brakes issue: "I own a 2004 Infiniti G35X and the brakes had to be totally redone (rotors and pads) at 14,000 miles. This was done by Infiniti under warranty. Now at 28,000 the brakes are again in need of replacement and Infiniti is denying any responsibility."
Chuck reports to consumeraffairs.com that he took his case to "national service and they told me that my car had high performance brakes (it does not) and to expect replacement every 14,000 to 15,000 miles at a cost of $1000 each. I am in the process of having the brakes redone at a local service facility.
"I would be interested in participating in a class action against Infiniti."
Such is the frustration from many an owner of the Infiniti G35 stuck with allegedly inferior Infiniti brakes. Having paid handsomely for a high-end vehicle, owners are balking at the cost and frequency of Nissan brake service.
